Nashville, Tennessee. – On Wednesday, Dolly Parton donated $ 1 million to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center to support research on infectious diseases and cancer in children. Associated Press..

This donation is just one of many. Parton’s previous $ 1 million donation helped the university research and test a variety of medicines and seek treatments to alleviate the serious symptoms of COVID-19.

According to news releases, this money is about how infectious diseases are caused, how antibiotic resistance works, how to prevent and treat infectious diseases (including cancer), and infectious diseases around the world. Fund ongoing research at the facility, including how it affects children.

And Parton donations have already made a life-saving difference.

Dr. Jeff Balzer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Dean of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, said: “This new gift will strengthen our defense against future threats to the security of the region and society as a whole.”

Mr. Parton said he loves children and supports the work of the facility.

“Children don’t have to suffer,” Parton said in a news release. “I want to play my part in keeping as many people healthy and safe as possible.”
